It is the time to set the table for the holidays!
Looking to create that perfect holiday table setting that's both Instagram-worthy and practical? While I love Pinterest and Insta for couture scrolling, real life's a different story (#nofilter) so we improvise.
Between Zoom sales calls and making my daughter lunch, I still love to plan a banging party! The good news? Becoming a young parent has honed my efficiency savvy like never before. And after hosting both a Halloween dinner party and a 17-person Friendsgiving back-to-back, I've cracked the code on creating an elevated table setting that's beautiful, personal, and cleanup-friendly.
Here’s how I set the scene for a 17-person Friendsgiving without losing my sanity, skipping personal touches, or sacrificing my curated style.
Spoiler: disposable doesn't have to look disposable, and your budget will be okay.
The Table Layout: Cozy and Communal

When hosting for a crowd, it's all about maximizing connection. For Friendsgiving, I invisioned a long, intimate table environment. I wanted each place setting to feel personalized, cozy, and inviting — a space that welcomed conversation and connection.
See the picture above? We extended our main dining table by adding two folding tables (yes, the same ones you use for card games or holiday buffets). Matching tablecloths transformed the setup into one long, cohesive table that invited conversation while maintaining a cozy vibe.
Pro Tip: Don’t skip the tablecloths. Not only do they make everything feel polished, they also hide the fact that your “long table” is actually a patchwork of furniture.
The Table Setting: Luxe Disposable Elegance

For Halloween, we used our fine China and silverware for a table display. The thought of another round of washing 17+ dishes and silverware again was not appealing.
For Friendsgiving, I opted for disposable items — stylish ones. You can Forget those flimsy white paper plates. Instead, I went with gold-rimmed plates and metallic-toned utensils that scream sophistication and simplify cleanup. These elevated alternatives will have your guests doing a double-take. Just make sure to recycle!

Personalized Place Settings: Each Guest Is Their Own VIP

Here's where things get fun — and where your guests feel like you’ve gone the extra mile (without actually spending hours).
I handwrote each name on a minimalist craft paper tag, sealed them with a wax stamp, and tied on chiffon ribbon with a dried lemon slice for aesthetic & aroma. These personalized place settings served as a formal welcome and turned the dinner into a a special event.
The result? Details so stunning that everyone was snapping photos before dinner even started.

Floral Flourishes: The Secret Ingredient

Nothing transforms a table like florals — they're inviting and grounding. For this setup, I kept it simple and seasonal with a mix of Trader Joe’s blooms and eucalyptus leaves running down the center of the table.
Pro Tip: Eucalyptus adds a subtle, calming scent, which enhances the relaxed vibe and connects the table visually. (Bonus points for being affordable!)
Add Small, low bouquets to avoid blocking sightlines (because nobody wants to dodge a bouquet to chat.)
Additional Details: Candles & More
As a full-fledged candle lover, I go all out. Given these options are seaonal, check the Anthro site for holiday options like this: Anthropologie Pumpkin Taper Candles.
Otherwise, consider a chic coordless adjustable setting Ambiance lamp from Amazon to create the perfect dinner mood.
